Responsibly Sourced Products

Health & Beauty

It’s not always convenient to read the labels on personal care products, but the ingredients in beauty supplies are more important to our health than many realize. Using natural cosmetics and toiletries is a proactive way of protecting your skin and hair from toxic chemicals, and is also safer for the environment.

There are quite a few reasons why it’s important to read the label on your shampoo. Our knowledgeable staff would love to show you a safer alternative.

  • Formaldehyde is carcinogenic, and is absorbed by the skin

  • Imidazolidinyl irritates the skin and eyes

  • Parabens increase the risk of skin cancer

  • Phthalates cause hormonal disruptions and are dangerous to the environment

  • Retinyl palmitate can cause itching, scaling, and peeling

  • Sulfates strip hair of their natural oils, causing dryness

  • Toluene can hamper the immune system and even cause congenital issues

The Dangers of Parabens

The Dangers of Parabens

Parabens are popular preservatives used in many cosmetics, including makeup, moisturizers, hair-care products, and shaving creams. Because scientists know that parabens are absorbed through the skin and have found parabens in cancerous tissue, there is a possibility that  parabens could lead to cancer. If you see any of the following parabens in your health and beauty products, you may want to consider switching to a safer alternative.

  • Methylparaben

  • Isopropylparaben

  • Ethylparaben

  • Isobutylparaben

  • Butylparaben

  • Propylparaben
